What are at least three items the President mentions in his speech that are "part of your job" as a student?
In the speech, Obama says that there are 6 things that is our job as students.
They are:
1. Show up to school on time
2. Study for Exams or tests
3. Pay attention in classes
4. Do Homework
5. Stay out of trouble
6. Put excellence in EVERYTHING!
Do you agree or disagree?
I agree.
Why?
I think that everybody needs an education. The way I look at it is that you basically need education to survive.

If you were the President talking to America's students, what could you add to President Obama's message?
I would add more on how it felt to only have one parent to take care of the family and what extra jobs he might have had to take on.

Who was a major influence in President Obama's school life?
His mom was a major influence.
How?
She sat him down and told him to change his attitude. She told him he cannot sit around and wait for luck to come to him. She told him to put in some effort. His mom was an influence from that because that basically changed his view on it and he his grades slowly improved.
Why?
That all happened because he didn't really care as long as he didn't have to drop out of school so his grades were mostly in the Cs and Ds.

How does your school experience compare with his?
His and my experience are pretty different.First of all he only had one parent. Second, he was not trying as hard as I am for a long time. And last, it was a long time ago were there were more bullies and the kids were not handled like they are today.

What role can you play in determining America's success in the 21st century?
I can be proud of who I am. I should be proud of what makes me different. Also, I can achieve my goals/dreams and then help other people achieve theirs.

The president mentions that we as kids have to
1.show up to school
2.study for exams
3. pay attention in class
I agree because I believe that this is extremely important an we can all benefit from education and working hard in school.

If I were Barack Obama then I would tell those kids of the hardships he dealt with growing up and how kids with the same problems cancan deal with them

His mother was a major influence because she was the one who really made Barack Obama strive to become his best. She sat him down and had a long talk with him.

He had to deal with a lot of pressure from his school and I don't really have to deal with a lot of pressure.

My role that I can play is to help the nation by being the best that I can be and reaching for my dreams.

What are at least three items the President mentions in his speech that are "part of your job" as a student?
1)DO HOMEWORK(on time of course)
2)school is the ticket to the rest of your life so don't waist your one ticket
3)and lastly i think that a student should not be nervous and you can and will always make it threw.
Do you agree or disagree? Why?
i defiantly agree because you should always do everything you can to get a good education.
If you were the President talking to America's students, what could you add to President Obama's message?
i would say to always follow your dream no mater what people say to you they are just words and words can't really hurt you.
Who was a major influence in President Obama's school life? How and why?
Probably Obama's mom because she is the one who gave Obama the speech that persuaded him to do well in school and if she had never given him the speech he may have had so bad of grades that he could not have been president.
How does your school experience compare with his?
Well Obamas mom probably gave him a lot of prep talks and in my life my mom gives me a lot of prep talks about school telling me to try and bring up my grades and some times in all my classes would she give me a prep talk about a test or just in general.
What role can you play in determining America's success in the 21st century?
i think that we have only had success in politics and helping out other countries in need of help like Hatti or Mexico after the oil spill but we did win a few wars like agent Iraq but other than that i personally don't think we did anything thing so great.

One item is when he said “The farther you go in school, the further you go in life. The second is when he said “The secret to success is working harder”. The final thing is that cramming yourself for a test is worth it, and that it is okay to make mistakes. Obama's mom made the biggest inmpact for him in school. If I were to add something It wold be Try hard in school even if you get bad grades. My school experience is like his because my mom is a big impact for me too. I can be a good student so that the twenty first century is full of educated people.

At least three jobs.
1)Show up to school on time.
2)Pay attention in class.
3) Do you homework.
Do I agree or disagree?
I agree 100%. If you don't do any of these you will not go far in school and won't do well.
If I was the president talking what would I add? I would add that no matter how hard something is in school you need to work hard on it whether its math, science or whatever because one day it will pay off.Who was a big part of his life? His mother was because she changed him. His mother talked with him about if you work hard and stay discipline you could get into any school. How does your school expeirience compare with his? My school experience compares with his about the grades. I thought oh I'm not failing so I'm doing fine. Well my father sat me down and talked to me and said you could be one of the greatest players in the country but if you don't do good in grades then colleges will not accept you. So I took that and now I'm trying to get all my grades up and do some extra choriculum work going. What role could I play for the 21st century. I could stay in school and be well educated so that when I grow up I can change people who aren't doing so well in things.

1.
Three jobs the president mentions are
1. to always try your hardest
2. to never give up
3. to respect diversity
I agree, because if you don't try, you will most certainly fail.
2. I would add how my parents are college teachers, and they have seen many students who don't put out an effort, fail.
3. His mother was a major influence, because she convinced him to keep trying, not just do the minimum.
4. This year is my second time moving, and I am having a hard time adjusting.
5. I want to be a scientist. I hope specifically to be a biologist, but I will have to see what field of science I like.

1. What are at least three items the President mentions in his speech that are "part of your job" as a student? Do you agree or disagree? Why?
a. To show up at school
b. To work hard
c. To pay attention in class
d. To study for tests, quizzes, and exams
e. To make all assignments a work of excellence
I agree because it is very important that we stay in school and try our hardest because we are the future of America, it depends on our generation at the moment and we need to work hard to become successful so that when the nation is in our hands, it will be prosperous.
2. If you were the President talking to America's students, what could you add to President Obama's message?
He already states this but I would elaborate on it by saying that even though the work is hard and time is tight with schoolwork, homework, sports, etc. education should always be you first priority, coming after life.
3. Who was a major influence in President Obama's school life? How and why?
His mother, because she straightened him out and make sure that in his life, education came first, and that attitude and work quality was everything. She did it because she knew with the right experience and attitude he could be very successful today, which he now is.
4. How does your school experience compare with his?
Our school experiences were very different considering he only had one parent to help him along and the effort put into work was not nearly as high. He also sometimes faced bullying, as did many others during his time, which is something we do not experience as much these days.
5. What role can you play in determining America's success in the 21st century?
I can follow President Obama's standards, and not only meet them, but exceed them and do my personal best in my school years so that in the future, I will be successful, contributing to the wellness and prosperity of our country.

3 things president Obama said were:

Stay in school
Pay attention in class
Don't be scared to try new things

I definitely agree with what Mr. Obama said:
Staying in school is essential to a successful life. Just because your not doing as well as others in a certain subject, doesn't mean you should give
up or just ignore what teachers are trying to
teach you. Teachers are here to teach and add
knowledge to your brain. Back then, kids weren't
as lucky as we are now, getting education
was very difficult. We should appreciate what
the community is offering us, as try hard to succeed

Paying attention in class is definitely what you need in order to achieve your goal. If you do not, how can you learn more about the subject? How can you be sure that you are going to improve or master that subject? You can't. Teachers are not at schools for kids to ignore them, they're there because they want kids of all ages to achieve their goal to have a successful life.

Don't be scared to try out new things!!!!
Middle school, high school, and even collage are the years that you are suppose to find out what our best at and what your not as good at, "everybody is born with a gift" as president Obama said, some people don't discover their "gifts" as easily as others. But that doesn't mean you should give up. Maybe you want to be an artist, but then you want to be a scientist, try them and you will see what fits you the most. You should try somethings out and maybe you will enjoy them better then others!

In President Barack Obama's 2010 speech to the nations students, he listed his opinion on what your "job" as a student should be. Here are a few of them:
1. Show up to school on time everyday.
2. Pay attention to your teacher in class.
3. Doing your homework.
4. Staying out of trouble.
5. And lastly, showing the drive and determination to succeed.

Overall I agree with the President, these things should be standard for all students. However, what he didn't state was the extra things students can do to max out their school experience. The extra credit, and school service that many kids don't feel the urge to do nowadays. For example, in 6th grade the magazine sale was a big thing. All of my friends were racing to get subscriptions and help their school. This year they approached the event in a very nonchalant manner. They simply said, "well I don't see the point in this," and tossed their packet into the trash. I simply feel that the president should have urged the kids to do their share.

If I were President Obama, I would have added on more about how when you get to high school, and the schools above the level of work increases, and when the level of work increases your effort should as well. I have an older brother who was an absolute genius in middle school totaling two B's his entire 3 years. But the story changed in high school. He told me that the level jumps and a lot of kids are struggling to keep up. The first 3 years of high school end up determining which college you attend (if any) and how your future will pan out. With colleges demanding more and more every year, the kids have to jump to a new level. That doesn't just include in school, it also includes sports and music and not to mention community service.

The President says his mother had a major influence in his school life. Up until high school he considered himself somewhat of a slacker. One day, his mother sat down with him and cut into him and asked what he remembered about giving effort. It really cut deep into his brain and from there on out he gave 110% in everything he did.

I feel in some ways I can relate to president Obama. Somedays in class I can find myself tuning out and saying well I dont really need to pay attention. However in other class I am very interested and involved in the discussion. If I could find a way to channel that in all of my classes I think I could be a better student.

You can make your influence on 21st century America by doing whatever it takes to improve our society. Whether its helping us in the fight against terror and global warming, or inventing the next big thing do it.

Barrack Obama starts off his speech by speaking directly to the students of America. He makes it clear that it is us that will determine the future of America, and he states a few: responsibilities that we all have.
1) Being the best student that you can be.
2) Take risks and try out new things.
3) Work hard in everything you do
4) Do your homework
5) Come to school on time

I agree with everything that President Obama said about our responsibilities. I believe that everything he said has a valid point, and plus he has been though the exact same experience we as students have, and now he is trying to help us out a little. Even though we are still students, what we are doing in our lives now is going to greatly affect what we do in out careers later in life, and I think that the President gives a very clear list of tasks you must perform to succeed.

If I was the president talking to the students of present day America, then I would add that students need to respect everything that they have been given, especially teachers, parents, but also respect the Law.

President Obama's mother was a huge influence in his school life. She was the one that got him back on track when it came to education and grades. She encouraged him and made sure he was doing his best in school.

Obama's experience in school was a lot different than my experience in school. First of all, my parents have been telling me since day 1 that I need to do my best in school, sports and anything I set my mind to. We both are/were students that played sports during the school year. I am also in the gifted program and have him to encourage me and motivate me to do my best, which President Obama didn't have.

Well, my idea for helping to contribute to America's success in the 21st century is to graduate high school, go to college and be the best that I can be in whatever career path I choose. If I would get the opportunity I would try to keep thing being made in America, create more American jobs, and create a better life for the people of America and the world.

1)President Obama suggests that the school students show up to school on time, do homework, study for exams, pay attention in class and stay out of trouble. I agree and anybody else who sees this video should too because if the students are doing well and their best in school, then those students will go further ahead in their lives and have more opportunities.

2) If I was the President talking to the students in America, I would strongly emphasize that students should always be ready and prepared for classes or even anything coming towards their way and to thank and appreciate those who helps students to achieve as high as possible-- teachers, parents, etc.

3) President Obama's mom influenced him during high school life by having a conversation with him. As his grades were getting lower, not always discipline and made some mistakes. During school, his mother motivated him by talking about if he put effort into any obstacles in his way, then he would be able to over-achieve and get into any school he prefers. The President states in his speech that his mother said "You can't wait for luck to see you through". He started studying harder since then.

4) I have experienced my grades dropping in seventh grade. I thought I was catching up but I wasn't. As i started a new school year in 8th grade, my parents talked to me about how I do at school affects my future every step of the way. Then, I really decided to do my best, and so far--because of somewhat how hard I have been trying, my grades are staying at a good average.

5) I would have to do my best to get good grades and do well on exams for the state since there are other countries around the world competing against out country. Not only it will determine my future but it also helps the country so there is not anything bad about trying my best at school. As the President says-- "Education has never been more important than it is today".
